Main Tasks

As a member of Square Enix's CG Movie Production Department,including video production for our company's representative game titles you will be involve with our production, development

and operation as a member of an organization that also supports development in real-time video expression.

※Recruitment process will be taken based on your experience and aptitude by position below.

①PreViz/Layouter
・Initial planning for movie directing based on scenario/text continuity,etc
・Create video continuity by using editing software
・Create PreViz by using 3D software
・You may be responsible for team leading and direction (Layout Director) in the future
※You can be involved in PreViz /Layout production, which can be said to be the core of Square Enix's major game title event movies, video works for DVD / BD,
theatrical release works, Promotion video production, etc.
Basically all of them become CG video works, but the contents are diverse, such as pre-rendering, real-time, and live-action compositing.
We will continue to take on various challenges to the world. Expand worldwide and create a production of titles that attract attention from the world.
This work gives us such a catharsis experience.
In addition, there is a career path to the PreViz leader and director (directing part) positions,
and it is possible to grow with a wide range of careers pivotal on directing design.

②Animator
・Animation (both body and facial animation)
・Possibility to be involved in outsourcing management and project lead in the future.
*We are involved in a variety of content, including games, commercials, and collaborative projects. Each of them has its own characteristics, and we can produce animations while considering the best fit for each of them.

③Modeler (Environment, Props)
・Create Environment/Prop models
・Create Matte paint
※There are many projects start from design and can be a challenging to your imagination. You can be involved in various taste backgrounds and prop production such as real and toon.

④Modeler (Characters)
・Modeling, texturing and shading for characters and their equipmnets.
・In addition to major titles such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, you can be involved in the production of high-end models with various looks and styles in new projects.                                                                                                                 You may also be in charge of character design and look development, so it is an environment where you can demonstrate skills other than modeling.

⑤Character Rigging Artist
・Character/Facial rigging
・Cloth/Hair rigging and Simulation
※There is divided into 4 tasks when proceeding set up work of characters and creatures which is : body, facial, cloth and hair.
You will be assign to the tasks that each artist's good at and create 1 Asset together with team members.
At Cloth / Hair simulation work, add movement to the clothes and hair with a wind for express the character's emotions.

⑥Lighting & Compositing Artist
・In charge of lighting and compositing shotworks.
・In addition to shotwork, there is a possibility that you will also be involved in outsourcing management and team management in the future.
※Image Studio has an environment where you can propose original ideas rather than just work on fixed looks, while incorporating the wishes of the director and others.
In addition, since it is a section where all the data is collected, there are opportunities to talk with many people involved in production, and you can use it in your work by learning about various ways of thinking. And since most of the basic DCC tools can be used, it is possible to develop and research and utilize it in your creation of works.

⑦VFX Artist
・Create VFX for various effects from realistic effects of destruction, fire, smoke and water to fantasy expressions such as magic and special abilities
・The entire Look Dev process from idea proposal to finishing if you building a new expression from none
※You can be involved in high-end movies of historic game series and high quality VFX production.
There are many opportunities to work on foreign titles and we can share our own images to the world.
We often participate in production from the initial stage and we can make various proposals for the entire production such as ideas, introduction of new technologies and efficient methods.
Since many people with various careers are enrolled both in Japan and overseas, we can all work hard and pursue new VFX expressions.

⑧Setup (Rigging) & Simulation Artist
・Cloth and hair/fur simulation work for characters.
・Setup/rigging work for cloth and hair/fur simulation.
Keeping the image and atmosphere of the character, you can pursue the ultimate realistic movement.

Appeal of the job

 "Square Enix Image Studio Department" is a video production department based on the members of the Visual Works Department which has produced pre-render movies for many of our titles and the Image Arts Department which has worked on the movie "KINGSGLAIVE FINAL FANTASY XV" with focus on real-time graphics, researched and developed high-end video expressions.
By fusing the technologies and features of the two divisions, we aim to create synergies and speed up the research and development of next-generation visual expressions

Required Skills & Experience

①PreViz/Layouter
・Experience in camera work and animation using 3D software such as Maya, MotionBuilder, etc
・Experience in production using editing software such as Premiere, After Effects, etc
・Experienced animators who are interested and motivated in directing (directing methods will be lectured)

②Animator
・3+ years of experience or equivalent skill in animation.
・Experience in animation using software Maya.

③Modeler (Background, Prop)
・5+ years of experience or equivalent skill
・Experience using software such as Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, etc
・High-detail 3DCG modeling experience

④Modeler (Characters)
・Experience using software such as Maya, Photoshop, and ZBrush.

⑤Character Rigging Artist
3+ years of experience for any of following skills below
・Rigging
・Setup for Cloth/Hair
・Setup for Facial

⑥Lighting & Compositing Artist
・Experience using software such as Maya, Nuke, and Photoshop.

⑦VFX Artist
・Experience using Houdini, Maya, or 3dsMax software
・Applicants with experiences in compositing such as Nuke, image processing such as Photoshop are preferred.

⑧Setup (Rigging) & Simulation Artist
・Experience using software Maya.
・One year or more of work experience.

⑥Lighting & Compositing Artist
・Experience and knowledge in realtime engine.
・Knowledge and experiences in rendering, especially on Arnold and other renderers.
・Knowledge and experiences in color management, GPU rendering.

⑦VFX Artist
・Good at expressing effects in cell-look and experienced in digital drawing
・Interest in developing and building environments using Houdini and the Houdini engine
・Plenty of experience in creating real-time effects for game engines and gpu rendering
・Experience working as a technical artist including pipeline development

⑧Setup (Rigging) & Simulation Artist
・Knowledge of python and/or mel.
・Simulation experiences with nCloth, nHair and carbonCloth.
