We are looking for an experienced Animation Engineer to work with us and push the quality on our next projects. The Animation Engineer will utilize and perfect his/her expertise in systems such as motion matching, neural network-based motion synthesis, retargeting and IK. The successful applicant will be responsible for the technical design, implementation and maintenance of said systems.
While a good amount of the work will be focused on actual production and the current needs of our content creators, the Animation Engineer will also have to research state of the art in the field and develop new systems or algorithm to improve our upcoming games. The ideal candidate shall be a good team player, curious of new technology and able to deliver robust solutions in a timely manner.
・Collaborate with artists, designers and programmers to design improvements to existing animation systems. Motion matching will receive particular focus initially.
・Extend authoring tools for ease of use and genericity, and improve the workflow productivity. Maintain technical documentation.
・Meet deadlines and produce high quality code. Debug and optimize low-level, high-performance code.
・Research state of the art in the field of Animation programming and develop exciting new technology to contribute to technology advances for the studio. Motion matching usability and optimization, as well as machine learning–assisted animation techniques shall be areas of particular interest.

The Advanced Technology Division is an expert set that is active at the front line of game technology, across the fields of rendering, animation, physics simulation, artificial intelligence (AI), networking, big data, workflow, virtual reality (AR/VR) and sound. We are seeking motivated and talented experts to work with us in Tokyo and push the boundaries in content creation.
Required Skills & Experience
・Excellent knowledge of C++/C, advanced vector math and quaternions
・Strong skills in algorithms and architecture and experience with multithreaded programming.
・Ability to write clear, maintainable, portable and efficient code in new and existing systems.
・Ability to work both autonomously and with teams.
・Experience with core animation concepts such as blending, animation state graphs and blend trees, animation compression, skinning, and IK.
・Experience with motion matching and/or neural network-based motion synthesis
Good to have
・Ability to communicate in Japanese.
・At least 3 years’ experience in the game industry at a similar position.
・Experience in shipping a multi-platform AAA title (XBOX1, PS4, PC, etc…).
・Machine learning experience
・Deep experience with IK solvers and applications
・Articulated body physics experience
