Mission
You will take technical ownership of our high-power gyrotron systems throughout the entire acceptance process — from factory testing at our Adogawa facility (Shiga prefecture), through installation and commissioning at customer sites, to final handover for operational use.
This role is about more than testing equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that our systems perform as designed and for seeing them through to successful operation at the customer site. As the final technical checkpoint before delivery, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and quality of everything we deliver.

We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of that final, critical stage — helping bring our technology from development into operation and contributing directly to the commercialization of fusion energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop test plans and procedures for gyrotron systems, including the design of test fixtures and instrumentation.
- Perform millimeter-wave measurements, including output power, frequency, mode patterns, reflected power, and arc detection, and analyze the resulting data.
- Conduct conditioning operations across the full system, including high-voltage, vacuum, and cooling subsystems, and optimize voltage ramp-up sequences.
- Serve as the responsible on-site engineer for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in Japan, as well as Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning at overseas customer sites.
- Plan the start-up and safety design of new test facilities, including irradiation test ranges, beam dumps, shielding, and interlock systems.
- Compile and analyze test data, prepare technical reports, and feed findings and lessons learned back into the engineering and design teams.

Requirement
- Testing and commissioning of industrial equipment, electrical systems, or research facilities
- Project engineering for large-scale equipment, from test planning through commissioning and handover
- Design and development of measurement systems, including data acquisition and analysis
- Electrical measurement or the operation and handling of high-voltage equipment
- Preparation of test procedures, test documentation, and technical reports
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including several overseas trips per year for commissioning activities
- Intermediate English proficiency, with the ability to read and write technical documentation and participate in technical discussions and meetings in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Japanese language proficiency at JLPT N3 level or above
Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Millimeter-wave or microwave measurement experience (power measurement, mode patterns, network analyzers, etc.)
- Experience with conditioning operation of high-voltage or vacuum equipment
- Knowledge of design of experiments (DoE) and statistical data analysis
- Practical experience with Japan's Radio Act (experimental station licensing), RF exposureprotection guidelines, or the Technical Standards for Electrical Installations
- Knowledge of interlock and safety design (IEC 61508 or similar)
- Experience with thermal imaging or infrared thermography
- Certifications such as Chief Electrical Engineer (Denki Shunin Gijutsusha) or Radiation Protection Supervisor
