Outline of the Job

The Deputy Vehicle Integration Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the integration of various components and systems within the vehicle group. This position involves working closely with teams within the vehicle group that specialize in flight science, flight simulation, flight performance, and rotor analysis to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the vehicle. The Deputy Vehicle Integration Manager will assist the Vehicle Group Manager in coordinating and managing these interdisciplinary efforts to meet project objectives effectively.

• Coordinating for Flight Science function
  • Lead the integration efforts of flight science principles, including but not limited to flight loads, flight characteristics, aeroelasticity, and aerodynamics, into vehicle design and development processes.
• Team Management
  • Assist in leading and managing the vehicle group, ensuring clear communication, task assignment, and progress tracking.
• Performance Optimization
  • Work closely with each team leader for Loads, Aeroelasticity, Flight Characteristics to optimize vehicle performance metrics, such as range, endurance, speed, and maneuverability, through effective integration of flight science principles.
• Technical Oversight
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the integration teams, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Risk Assessment
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with flight science integration, working proactively to address challenges and ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between different teams involved in vehicle integration to ensure alignment of goals and efficient problem-solving.

Essential Skills

• Experience in aircraft development as a Chief Engineer or Head of Flight Science.
• Extensive experience (10 years+) in aerospace engineering or a related field, with a demonstrated focus on flight science integration.
• Profound understanding of flight loads, aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, and other relevant flight science disciplines.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills
• Experience working across all aspects of flight science field, across all phases of the aircraft life-cycle, from concept generation to certification and entry into service

Desirable skills

• Experience with flight simulation, performance analysis, and rotor dynamics
• Knowledge of proposed eVTOL regulations and means of compliance
• Experience in multicopter development
• Experience in leading type certification of aircraft (preferably helicopters), successfully obtaining type certification.
• Experienced with direct discussions with regulators and participation in standards groups for development of new technology
• Experience with Interactions of systems of structures regulation and/or computing flight science for aircraft with fly-by-wire control system
