Loads Team Leader
Role Overview SkyDrive are looking for a passionate and talented leader to fill the role of Loads Team Leader. The role is multi-disciplinary and applicants must have a passion for new technology whilst working in a lean manor to achieve program objectives and help to SkyDrive deliver a range of certified eVTOLs into the Advanced Air Mobility Eco-System. The role requires leadership across all aspects of static and dynamic Loads analysis for manned Air Mobility products, including: ・Define, develop and implement the environment, models and tools for Loads analysis ・Loads analysis and modelling requirements capture ・Preparation of Certification Plan, including MoC definition ・Interface with Certification Authorities (JCAB/FAA/EASA etc) as required Integration is a critical aspect of the role and will require interfacing with many disciplines, including Structures, Aerodynamics, Simulation, Flight Characteristics, Flight Controls, Test (rigs, ground and flight), requirements management and all activities associated with achieving certification. The successful candidate will be a critical part of the technical team and requires good interpersonal skills (in a multilingual environment), strong work ethic, efficient self-management, passion to learn new skills and help develop others. Responsibilities 1. Lead on all Loads analysis and be responsible for integrating with aircraft development and certification. 2. Technical authority for Loads related decisions. 3. Support aircraft level integration (from Loads perspective) by providing Loads expertise and tools to support the activities of other technical teams. 4. Key role in development and management of Loads analysis and design requirements, from capture, through V&V and compliance for certification. 5. Work closely with the Safety Team to ensure Loads aspects are considered in aircraft level safety assessments. 6. Develop best practice by combining knowledge from conventional aerospace and new approaches for eVTOL. Emphasis on the needs of a lean start-up culture with novel designs and unique operational characteristics. 7. Develop and nurture talent with a wide range of backgrounds, experience and skill level. Assist in recruitment activities within the Loads team and related areas across the company. Essential 1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline. 2. Minimum of 10 years experience in Loads analysis for certified aerospace vehicles. 3. Demonstrated ability to lead a Loads team. 4. Experience working across all aspects of aircraft Loads analysis, across all phases of the aircraft life-cycle, from concept generation to certification and entry into service 5. Generated technical requirements for Loads discipline and taken responsibility for managing them throughout the life-cycle (capture, mature, validation and verification). Good understanding of aircraft development processes (e.g. ARP4754). 6. Worked across multiple disciplines and skilled at harmonising technical challenges across multiple teams. Excellent project management and inter-personal skills to manage internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers and regulators). Proactive attitude to ensure the optimum outcome for the program. 7. Deep knowledge in one-of Part/CS 23/25/27/29 and experience in developing means of compliance for requirements relating to Loads. 8. Ability to question traditional assumptions in the application of regulations, guidance material, and engineering specifications. 9. Developed techniques from blank sheet to aid aircraft design, integration and testing. 10. If no existing experience with multi-copter design, then ability to quickly learn from team members about differences with conventional fixed/rotary wing aircraft. 11. Understanding of rotor blade aerodynamics and rotor dynamics, to a level that impacts Loads analysis. 12. Business level English and able to build positive relationships in a multilingual environment. Desirable 1. Loads knowledge and experience for multicopters. If no practical experience then at least an understanding of theory and the challenges associated with certification (and major differences to conventional f/wing or r/wing). 2. Experience with Interactions of Systems of Structures regulations and/or computing loads for aircraft with fly-by-wire control system 3. Understanding of aerodynamics of multi-copters and impact on Loads requirements and analysis. 4. Experienced with direct discussions with regulators and participation in standards groups for development of new technology. 5. Adopted new technology in aerospace and developed novel aircraft configurations and/or negotiated alternative means of compliance with regulators. 6. Motor Development Leader
Role Overview This position will be responsible for motor development and member management for flying cars. There are two possible future career paths based on the candidate’s preferences: one is to become a specialist in the motor area, and the other is to become an expert in the electric drive organization (motors and inverters) or an expert in the technology development organization that unites not only electric drive but also all technology fields, so that you can expand your management area. Certification & Safety Manager
Role Overview SkyDrive are looking for a passionate and talented certification expert to fill the role of Certification & Safety Manager for the Air Mobility Division. The role is highly multidisciplinary and applicants must have a passion for new technology whilst working in a lean manner to achieve program objectives and help SkyDrive deliver a range of certified eVTOLs into the Advanced Air Mobility eco-system. The role requires supporting leadership across all aspects of certification for manned air mobility products, including certification strategy & planning, knowledge gathering & sharing, coordinating with regulation bodies, ensuring certification issues embedded into engineering activities, and generating certification artifacts.In the saftey area this person will be responsible for overseeing all the aircraft level and systems level saftey requirements for our SD-05 flying car and beyond. The successful candidate will be a critical part of the certification team and requires excellent interpersonal skills (in a multilingual environment), strong work ethic, efficient self-management, passion to learn new skills and help develop others. Responsibilities 1. Support the Head of Certification in building a capable certification team and strategy to achieve type certification for SkyDrive manned air mobility platforms. 2. Act as main point of contact for all certification discussions outside Japan (i.e. FAA, EASA etc) and ensure harmonization and effective knowledge share across SkyDrive certification team. 3. Work closely with the Head of Certification, all relevant SkyDrive teams (certification, engineering, supply chain etc) and regulators to agree certification basis for SkyDrive vehicles, and propose and negotiate means of compliance. 4. Support SkyDrive in discussions with regulators on special conditions, method of compliance selection and all other issues relevant to achieving certification goals. 5. Actively involved (author, collaborate and/or review) in preparation of certification related material for SkyDrive vehicles and systems, including certification plans, whitepapers, flight test plans and issue papers. 6. Support certification activities across the full lifecycle and help define certification program plans, milestones, resource profiles, budget allocation etc. Take responsibility for meeting the certification targets defined. 7. Develop relationships to ensure certification considerations feedback into the engineering work (hardware and software). 8. Actively engage with regulator round-table discussions and standards bodies meetings to ensure SkyDrive are well represented and have the latest information regarding eVTOL certification issues. 9. Support Head of Certification in building network of DERs (or equivalent) and coordinating their input ensure successful type certification across multiple regulators. 10. Supervise that all the saftey related tools , process ,mechanism in place properly. Evaluate the safety analysis at the aircraft level and at the systems level , suggest corrective actions where required and lead the safety requirements gathering for certification and act as a safety expert for certification matters. Essential 1. Experience working in a leadership role taking an aircraft program from concept stage to successful type certification, and entry into service, under Part/CS 23/25/27/29 (ideally Part 23 amendment 64 and/or Part 27). 2. Experience with certification of SkyDrive core technologies (FBW flight controls, electrical storage and supply, electrical propulsion, avionics, composite structures etc), for hardware and software aspects. 3. Knowledge of all aspects of ARP4754, safety assessment/analysis techniques (e.g. ARP4761) and lower-level hardware and software standards (e.g. DO-178, DO-254 etc). 4. Demonstrated ability to strongly and effectively communicate any issues that may compromise certification compliance and safety across the entire aircraft. 5. BSc or MSc in Engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical or equivalent). 6. Minimum of 10 years working within aerospace certification. 7. Minimum of5 years working with the FAA directly. 8. Software: general office skills (MS Office, Gdocs), configuration tools (e.g. TeamCenter or equivalent), requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS or equivalent). 9. Business level English and demonstrated ability to build positive relationships in a multilingual environment. Desirable 1. Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) status for relevant system/area. 2. Experience on certification programs for novel aircraft using Part 21.17(b) and/or successful certification of functions/systems not covered by existing regulation framework. 3. Experience working in eVTOL and/or drone development and demonstrated experience in certification leadership of novel aircraft programs. 4. Some work relating to certification of operations (e.g. UAV ground stations, communication networks etc). 5. Outline of the job You will be in charge of planning, managing, and promoting the development of a certification plan for noise of flying cars (manned drones), developing a test outline for exterior noise, searching/selecting a test site, conducting the test, and coordinating with the Civil Aviation Bureau to obtain aviation certification. Role Overview SkyDrive are looking for a passionate and engineer to join the Performance Team. The role is multi-disciplinary and applicants must have a passion for new technology whilst working in a lean manor to achieve program objectives and help to SkyDrive deliver a range of certified eVTOLs into the Advanced Air Mobility Eco-System.
