Yamaha Corporation, located in Hamamatsu, Japan, offers challenging engineering internships and we are looking for versatile and talented interns to join the Development Groups. These are paid internships and will provide real-life experience at one of the largest and most dynamic musical instruments and professional audio product manufacturers in the world!

Internships are located in Hamamatsu, Japan and the length will be approximately 12 weeks. If applicable, applicants must be eligible to travel abroad under any epidemic border measures. Internships are subject to cancellation due to any business or safety concerns.

Project Title

Prototyping a Music Learning Support App for Beginners

Project Description

We will prototype a mobile learning app that helps beginner musicians improve their instrument performance step by step.
You will research and design user-friendly UI/UX, implement key features, and evaluate how the app supports continuous learning.

Required Items:

• Major/Minor/Master
  ・Minimum GPA of 3.25
• Knowledge
  ・Interest in musical instruments or music in general
  ・Basic knowledge of UX/UI design
• Skills
  ・Experience developing for iOS and/or Android
  ・Open-minded communication skills
• Experiences
  ・Demonstrated interest in music or playing instruments
• Others
  ・Logical communication skills (presentation, discussion, writing) in English (CEFR B2 level)
  ・Passport

Desirable Items:

• Major/Minor/Master
  ・BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields
• Knowledge
  ・Knowledge of playing musical instruments or music production
  ・Specialized knowledge in UI/UX design
  ・Interest or knowledge in education or learning sciences
  ・Basic knowledge of MIDI
• Skills  
  ・Cross-platform development skills (e.g., Flutter, React Native)
• Experiences
  ・Experience in team-based software development
  ・Experience in improving or optimizing UI/UX
