ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a legal professional to take full ownership of legal matters for our operations in China and the global market. The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of the Chinese legal system and cross-border regulations, ensuring our business remains compliant, agile, and aligned with global standards.

Location: Remote.

Contract type: 1-year service agreement (part-time, project-based), with compensation paid per workload delivered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Legal Oversight: China Market

• Contract Preparation: draft, review, and negotiate all contracts for Chinese-related projects, ensuring alignment between PRC law and international commercial standards.
• Client Engagement: Lead communications with client legal teams to negotiate the content of Master Service Agreements and specialized compliance addenda as required.
• Compliance: Ensure Arches’ operations adhere to the Chinese regulatory framework. Act as an advisor to internal teams on adapting operational workflows to meet local legal requirements.
• Risk Mitigation : Conduct high-level risk assessments for expert engagements and provide "go/no-go" recommendations to the internal operations team to protect the Arches’ interests.

Internal Support

• Internal subject matter expert: Serve as the primary point of contact for the operations team on legal and regulatory matters related to the Chinese market.
• Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver training sessions and provide ongoing guidance to junior legal and compliance team members on China-specific legal nuances and project-related issues.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field. PRC Bar qualification is highly advantageous.
• 4+ years of experience in legal, compliance, or risk management. Prior experience in a multinational environment is preferred.
• Native-level fluency in Mandarin and professional fluency in English.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex cross-border legal issues and provide "business-friendly" solutions that enable growth while managing risk.
• A proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
