INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

The Expert Network Services (ENS) industry connects our clients (consulting and investment firms) with specialized insights from top experts. With a strong focus on the Asia-Pacific region, our team is fluent in the languages ​​​​​​​​across the area and has unmatched recruitment capabilities to find experts from any industry or niche.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Arches is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Associate to join our global team. In the fast-paced expert network industry, navigating complex contractual, regulatory, and compliance requirements is essential to our operations.
The Legal Associate will support Arches by managing commercial contracts, conducting legal research, assisting with legal and regulatory matters, and supporting selected compliance activities. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and, where appropriate, external clients to help manage legal risk and support the delivery of expert engagements.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the expert network industry or in an in-house legal team within a corporate environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contract Lifecycle Management: Draft, review, and negotiate client and other commercial agreements, including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and related contracts.
• Regulatory & Compliance Monitoring: Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the expert network industry, including data protection and privacy laws, Material Non-Public Information (MNPI) and securities laws, anti-bribery requirements, sanctions, conflicts of interest, and other cross-border regulatory matters. Flag relevant developments and recommend updates to documentation or processes where necessary.
• Compliance Support:

Background Screening and Client-Specific Compliance Requirements

• Conduct background screening checks for experts with the assistance of a third-party tool.

• Monitor adherence to client-specific requirements, including restricted lists, cooling-off periods, and conflicts of interest (COI).

• Escalate discrepancies, red flags, and potential breaches in accordance with internal procedures.

Compliance Guidance and Project Screening

• Respond to compliance questions from experts and internal teams clearly and consistently.

• Conduct project screening to identify potential compliance issues before expert engagements proceed.

• Provide guidance on compliance procedures and client requirements.

Compliance Due Diligence and Audit

• Support client due diligence requests and audits, including questionnaires, certifications, and supporting evidence.

• Document findings and ensure that records and responses are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Law degree required (LLB, JD, or equivalent qualification); an LLM or other postgraduate law degree is preferred.
• 4-5 years of experience in a corporate or commercial legal role. Ideally, prior experience working within an expert network firm.
• Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
• Practical understanding of data protection and privacy laws, corporate compliance frameworks, MNPI, securities laws, and other regulatory risks relevant to expert networks.
• Experience supporting legal notices, disputes, regulatory inquiries, investigations, or other legal matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and compliance concepts clearly to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a global environment.
• Professional fluency in English .
