Company Introduction
Since our founding in 2008, Axelspace has been driven by the vision “Space within Your Reach.” We have continuously refined our unique micro-satellite technology with the goal of democratizing space technology to a wider population across the globe.
AxelGlobe started in 2019 to provide a new Earth observation infrastructure by launching multiple micro-satellites for its higher data frequency. In addition to a satellite launched in 2019, we have successfully launched Japan’s first four mass-produced satellites in 2021. We are currently operating a constellation of five Earth observation satellites, capturing images with a 55 km swath every 2 to 3 days, and providing data and solutions.
Building on our experience with our dedicated satellite business, we launched AxelLiner in 2022 to provide a one-stop service for satellite development and operation, helping customers quickly actualize their satellite business. In 2024, we launched our first demonstration satellite, “PYXIS,” bringing our total number of developed and operated satellites to 11.
Additionally, we received the highest award, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 22nd JAPAN VENTURE AWARDS in 2022, and was selected as part of “Technology Fast 50 2023 Japan” in 2023.

我々のチームでは衛星運用地上システムを開発しています。衛星の運用は、主に顧客からの撮影等のミッションリクエストのスケジューリング、衛星上で生成されたミッションデータの顧客へのデリバリー、コマンド生成と送信、テレメトリの受信とモニタリング、軌道運用から構成される複雑なシステムで、顧客、運用エンジニア、衛星上のコンポーネントを担当するドメインエンジニアに必要な情報を届ける責務を担います。
本ポジションでは、衛星運用システム開発チームにおいて、自ら手を動かして開発を進めるとともに、チームの設計・実装・テストをリードすることができ、将来的にはソフトウェア開発チームのリーダーにシフトして行くキャリア形成を考えている方を募集します。

職務内容
衛星運用システム開発チームの一員として、以下に記載している業務及び、その他指示された業務を チームの他のメンバーと協力して実施します。ソフトウェアエンジニアリングに関する知識や能力があれば、人工衛星や宇宙に関する事前の知識は不要です。それらの知識については業務を進めるなかで徐々に習得することができます。
- 顧客からの撮影等のミッションリクエストのスケジューリング、衛星上で生成されたミッションデータの顧客へのデリバリー、コマンド生成と送信、テレメトリの受信とモニタリング、軌道運用から構成される衛星運用システムの開発・メンテナンス・テスト・デプロイ。
- 衛星運用システムで問題が発生したときの解決策の考案・実装。その際に暫定的な運用が発生する場合は、その運用の実施及びマニュアル化・引き継ぎ。
【リーダー候補として期待する役割】
- 開発対象の要件定義(システムエンジニアと一緒に行う)、外部仕様・内部仕様の策定と、それらのドキュメントに基づく設計レビューの主導
- メンバー間、チーム間のソフトウェア開発におけるインタフェースの設計と合意形成
- チームメンバーの開発スケジュールおよびタスク優先順位の管理
- チーム全体の技術的な意思決定への貢献と、メンバーの技術的な成長の支援
必要なスキル・経験
- 数理アルゴリズム的な問題を自ら発見したうえで、プログラミングで解決できること
- 5年以上のPython を利用したソフトウェアシステムの開発、改良、及び運用経験
- 5年以上のUnix/Linux システム上でソフトウェアの開発、改良、及び運用経験
- 5年以上の要件定義書、外部仕様書、内部仕様書の記述、および、レビューに基づく開発経験
- Git を利用したソフトウェア開発経験
- リレーショナルデータベースを使ったソフトウェア開発経験
- 技術チームをリードし、メンバーを育成したいという明確な志向

About the Role
Our team develops a ground segment satellite operation system. Satellite operations constitute a complex system primarily composed of scheduling mission requests from customers such as imaging requests, delivering mission data generated on satellites to customers, generating and transmitting commands, receiving and monitoring telemetry, and conducting orbit operations. The system bears the responsibility of providing necessary information to customers, operation engineers, and domain engineers responsible for components on the satellites.
In this position, we are looking for someone who will write code themselves while also leading the team through requirement definition, design, implementation, and testing, with a career path in mind that shifts toward becoming a software development team leader in the future.
You will communicate with professional engineers across the many technical domains that make up a satellite, applying your own software development skills to solve problems — work we find genuinely exciting. This role is a good fit for software engineers who have built up team management experience in recent years. We look forward to hearing from you.
Job Responsibilities
As a member of the Satellite Operation System Development Team, you will carry out the following, along with other assigned duties, in cooperation with the other members of the team. If you have the knowledge and ability in software engineering, no prior knowledge of satellites or space is required — you can acquire it gradually as you go.
- Development, maintenance, testing, and deployment of the satellite operation system, which consists of scheduling mission requests such as imaging requests from customers, mission data delivery, command generation and uplink, telemetry reception and monitoring, and orbit operation
- Temporary manual operation when problems occur in the satellite operation system, and turning those procedures into entries in the operation manual
【Expected Role as a Team Leader Candidate】
- Leading requirement definition with support of system engineer, the drafting of external and internal specifications, and design reviews based on those documents
- Designing the interfaces between the development work divided among teams and among members, and building consensus on them
- Managing team members' development schedules and task priorities
- Contributing to the team's technical decision-making, and supporting the technical growth of its members
Mandatory Requirements
- A strong drive to find and define mathematical and algorithmic problems on your own, and to solve them through programming
- Experience in development, operation, and improvement of software systems using Python for more than 5 years
- Experience in development, operation, and improvement of software on Unix/Linux systems for more than 5 years
- Experience in development based on writing and reviewing requirement definition documents, external specifications, and internal specifications for more than 5 years
- Experience in software development using Git
- Experience in software development using relational databases
- Demonstrated desire to lead and mentor a technical team
- Experience designing the interfaces between team members and between teams in software development
- Ability to draw out hidden requirements in software design discussions and reflect them in the requirement definition document
- Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N1 or above
Favorable Skills / Experiences
- Experience developing in C++
- Experience using AWS (ECS, SQS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Experience using and tuning PostgreSQL
- Experience in leading and mentoring a technical team
