Overview

At Money Forward, we develop and provide the B2B SaaS "Money Forward Cloud" series. At the core of this series is "Money Forward Cloud Invoice," which has supported the efficiency of various billing tasks, including invoice creation, since its release in 2014, contributing to the improvement of business productivity. 

However, many small and medium-sized enterprises still face challenges such as inefficient paper-based accounting tasks and opaque management information, leading to low productivity as a social issue. We are committed to evolving "Money Forward Cloud Invoice" daily in collaboration with partners such as accounting firms and tax offices that face the management of small and medium-sized enterprises and sole proprietors, as well as the government that is pushing the digitalization trend. By increasing the number of users, we aim to improve the operational productivity of domestic companies and, consequently, the competitiveness of the entire domestic business.

With the introduction of the invoice system and the spread of digital invoices, Japan's billing operations will undergo significant changes. In this context, we are enhancing our system to rapidly improve the product value through the development of new features and enhancement of existing ones, as well as to achieve more stable operation for users to use our services with confidence. We are currently seeking a Lead Engineer to join our team.

Organizational characteristics

Organizational Features The Cloud Invoice is one of over 30 service lineups in the Money Forward Cloud series and is a core service of Money Forward, released in 2014, following accounting and tax filing services. While it is a well-utilized service, we are also taking on new challenges, one of which is development at our overseas base in Vietnam since 2020. Therefore, the common language of the team is English, and all documents are also in English. We are looking forward to applications from those who want to lead a development team in English and work with overseas members to create products.

Responsibility

As the Lead Engineer of the development team for "Money Forward Cloud Invoice," one of Money Forward's main products, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Development of new features and enhancement of existing ones to improve the product value offered
  • Ensuring stable operation of mission-critical services
  • Addressing technical debt and making various improvements to ensure the product can sustain growth
  • Prompt investigation and response to user inquiries

As a Lead Engineer, you will work with the Engineering Manager to create the product delivery roadmap, manage engineering resources to achieve the roadmap, manage the progress of development processes, and plan and execute strategies to improve productivity and test quality in the development process.

You will also collaborate with product managers, designers, and other team members to realize product development that solves user issues.

Furthermore, this product is currently being developed with engineers at Money Forward's Vietnam development base. The common language of the team is English, so the above tasks will be conducted primarily in English.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of web application development experience using Rails
  • Experience in maintenance, operation, and development of mission-critical web services and business systems
  • Experience in managing and training other team members

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge and experience in contracts, procurement, order processing, billing tasks, or bookkeeping, accounting, and financial operations
  • Experience in maintenance and operation of B2B web services
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams at overseas bases

Language Requirement

  • English: Fluent in both written and spoken
  • Japanese: Not required (Interests in learning is a plus)

Salary Range

Min 6,900,000 - Max  11,004,000 Japanese yen / year (Gross)

  • Location: Tokyo, Japan
  • Hybrid Work
    • As a standard practice, a minimum of 2 days work from office attendance is mandatory, designated as team office days. Additionally, employees are encouraged to spend 3 or more days in the office.
    • The specific "team office days" may vary depending on the assigned team.
    • This policy may be subject to change based on the company's needs and work circumstances.
