The Partner Product Development Department (Business Segment, SMB Domain) oversees the product line for partner professionals, primarily accounting firms and labor and social security attorney offices, who are essential to our business. The department continuously addresses challenges faced by Japanese accounting firms, enhancing the productivity of these crucial partners and achieving mutual growth with Money Forward. Professionals still spend significant time on paper-based tasks, such as receipt management and application forms, which limits advisory capacity. Money Forward Cloud has prioritized partners since its inception to drive SME digital transformation, and as of 2023, our cloud accounting service is the No.1 choice among accounting firms with a 45% share. We aim to unlock even more value so that professionals can focus on helping SMEs grow.

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager who balances people leadership, delivery ownership, and technical direction while working closely with the team in a dynamic environment. You will be accountable for delivery, team health, and technical quality. You will steer execution, align stakeholders, and support engineers through coaching, actionable feedback, and clear priority setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a global development organization to scale our Partner/Cloud Partner products and their impact. You will partner closely with Product, Design, and Business leaders to deliver roadmaps that enhance advisory experiences and reduce toil for professionals.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Organization Management: Recruit, evaluate, develop, and retain engineers; establish practices to build high-performing, inclusive teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Plan and execute continuous and disruptive growth for systems and organization.
  • Stakeholder Management: Allocate resources, coordinate with stakeholders, and make decisions to realize the product roadmap.
  • Technical Leadership: Define technical roadmaps along with the tech team and company direction, select future-proof architectures, and promote/mentor technical initiatives.
  • Problem Solving: Resolve organizational and product challenges in collaboration with Product Managers and other division heads.
  • Division-Level Impact: Propose and drive broader Division-level growth strategies beyond your immediate team.

Expected Role

Initially, you will be appointed as the Deputy Department Manager in the Partner Development Department and will work with the Department Manager overseeing the organization. You will build relationships with stakeholders while staying involved in the field to familiarize yourself with Department Manager-level operations. Eventually, you are expected to take over the Department Manager role and work closely with the team and PdMs to identify and solve issues within people, organizations, product, or processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience with people management in an engineering organization of 5 or more, including their development, evaluation, and recruitment.
  • Experience with setting up organizational practices to optimize team outputs.
  • Over 5 years of professional experience as a software engineer, with solid experience with modern web app design, development, and operations and sufficient technical depth to guide design discussions and evaluate engineering quality.
  • Experience in driving projects forward by collaborating with multinational development teams in English.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Managers, designers, and business teams to drive projects forward.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Managing development organizations of several members; leading teams comprised of global members.
  • Experience addressing/resolving technical debt; organizational development aligned with business strategy.
  • Domain familiarity with accounting systems and professional firm workflows (accounting firms, labor/social security attorney offices).
  • Experience in our current technology stack: 
    • Backend: Kotlin, GraphQL, Ruby on Rails
    • Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript
  • Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.

Min 834,000 JPY / month(10,008,000 JPY / year)- 1,250,000 JPY / month(15,000,000 JPY / year)
Each including fixed allowances of 242,078 JPY - 360,732 JPY / month.
Bonus
A「High Performance Bonus」may be paid to employees who receive high evaluations based on semi-annual evaluations in addition to their salary.

Working Hours
