Overview
At Money Forward, organization-wide engineering themes—such as AI utilization, security, technical standards, development productivity, and global development structures—are becoming increasingly vital.
The CTO Office plays a pivotal role in translating company-wide technical strategies into actionable projects and driving them forward. We work in close collaboration with the CTO/CxO, VPoXs, various development organizations, the CISO Office, design teams, business units, and overseas branches.
These initiatives are not confined to a specific product or a single department. They involve a large number of stakeholders, complex combinations of technical, organizational, and business considerations, and shifting priorities depending on the situation. Therefore, we are seeking a Project Manager who can consistently lead the entire process—from problem definition and consensus building to planning, execution management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication.
Mission
As a Project Manager in the CTO Office, you will lead company-wide, mission-critical projects to success. Your goal will be to enable Money Forward's engineering organization to deliver value faster, more securely, and on a global scale.
Your primary missions will include:
- Initiating, planning, driving, and embedding cross-functional, company-wide projects led by the CTO Office.
- Aligning expectations, supporting decision-making, and resolving issues among diverse stakeholders across multiple departments and roles.
- Managing projects centered around key strategic themes, such as AI utilization, security enhancement, technical standards, development productivity, and global organization building.
- Facilitating smooth communication in both Japanese and English with domestic and international engineers, management, and business teams.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a Project Manager for cross-functional initiatives driven by the CTO Office, you will be responsible for the following areas. While this role includes routine project management duties, your primary responsibility will be to dive deep into high-priority themes as needed to push projects forward.
- Planning and Execution Management for Company-Wide AI Initiatives
- Managing progress, issues, and risks for multi-organizational AI initiatives, including AI utilization platforms, AI agents, AI development tools, and AI usage guidelines.
- Coordinating with product development teams, platform teams, business units, QA, and security stakeholders.
- Preparing progress reports, structuring discussion points, and supporting decision-making for the steering committee.
- Driving Projects Related to Security Enhancement and Governance Strengthening
- Facilitating post-incident recurrence prevention, development process improvements, security reviews, and governance reviews.
- Collaborating with the CISO Office, development organizations, and legal/compliance teams.
- Driving Technical Standards, Architecture Reviews, and Development Process Improvements
- Supporting the formulation, review, publication, and operational improvement of company-wide technical standards.
- Optimizing cross-tool operations involving standardization processes, review requests, and approval tracking.
- Designing, improving, and embedding processes for architecture and governance reviews.
- Driving Projects Related to Developer Productivity
- Improving developer portals, consolidating technical information, streamlining knowledge flows for developers, and visualizing tool utilization.
- Gathering challenges faced by development organizations, aligning with stakeholders on resolution strategies, and translating them into actionable plans.
- Driving Projects for Global Engineering Organization Building
- Managing projects in collaboration with engineers, managers, and PMs/PdMs across both Japan and overseas branches.
- Facilitating meetings, creating documentation, and sharing information via chat tools—all in English.
- Developing Project Management Infrastructure
- Managing milestones, schedules, issues, risks, dependencies, and decision logs.
- Utilizing internal collaboration, document management, and development tools to organize information and ensure high progress transparency.
- Summarizing complex situations and communicating them at the appropriate level of granularity for executives, management, and engineering teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience leading projects involving multiple departments and diverse roles.
- Experience defining project objectives, scopes, milestones, issues, and risks, and driving initiatives forward while engaging stakeholders.
- Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders, including executives, department heads, engineers, designers, and business teams.
- Ability to structure discussion points for ambiguous topics, clarifying next steps and decisions to be made.
- Strong business communication skills in Japanese.
- Business communication skills in English, at a level sufficient to conduct meetings, chat communications, and documentation with engineers and managers at overseas branches.
- Experience organizing information and sharing progress using collaboration tools.
- Ability to prioritize and drive multiple projects forward in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
You do not need to possess all of the following. We welcome candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
- Experience driving projects related to AI utilization, Generative AI, AI agents, or AI development tools.
- Experience driving projects related to security, governance, risk management, or compliance.
- Hands-on experience with technical standards, development processes, architecture reviews, or improving developer productivity.
- Project management experience within global or multinational teams.
- Professional experience within engineering organizations, product development teams, or SaaS companies.
- Experience designing, scaling, and embedding organizational processes and operational workflows across multiple departments.
- Experience in operational and information design by integrating collaboration tools, document management tools, and development-related applications.
- Experience in software development, engineering management, or product management.
- Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.
- Money Forward recently announced our AI Strategy roadmap which focuses on improving AI-driven operational efficiencies, as well as integrating AI agents into our products to deliver better value to our users. (More information here)
Note: Hands-on development experience is not required. Rather than the ability to implement technical details yourself, we place a higher priority on the ability to understand technical discussion points, converse effectively with relevant stakeholders, and drive projects forward.
