Overview
We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join the Sole Proprietor Development Division within the Money Forward Business Domain.
Our mission, "Moving work and life forward for individual workers", drives us to develop innovative solutions that simplify and enhance professional lives. Our flagship offerings include Cloud Tax Return (クラウド 確定申告), Cloud Business Registration (クラウド 開業届) and Cloud Company Registration (クラウド 会社設立)
These products are designed to reduce administrative burdens, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, allowing sole proprietors to focus on their core business activities and achieve greater success.
As our product and user base continue to grow, we are expanding our Android team to improve development speed, quality, and reliability. You will play a key role in driving technical initiatives, improving architecture, and contributing to a better user experience on our Android platform.
Responsibilities and Role
- Design, develop, and maintain our Android application to increase the value of Money Forward Cloud for our users, focusing on usability, performance, and reliability.
- Continuously improve the development process to maximize team performance, including refining workflows, enhancing code review practices, and automating routine tasks.
- Propose and implement improvement measures based on qualitative and quantitative data, including log analysis, analytics, and user interview results.
- Select appropriate technologies, architecture designs, and libraries, leading technical discussions and decision-making within the team.
- Collaborate with web and backend engineers to define and implement API contracts, align business logic, and deliver seamless features across platforms.
- Lead or contribute to feature implementation, refactoring, dependency updates, bug fixes, and continuous code quality maintenance.

Required Skills and Experience
- At least 3 years of practical experience as an Android app engineer (5+ years preferred), including involvement in mid- to large-scale applications.
- Strong knowledge of Kotlin and Kotlin Coroutines, with the ability to write clean, safe, and maintainable asynchronous code.
- Practical knowledge of Jetpack Compose and experience building UI with modern Android UI frameworks.
- Development experience using design patterns such as MVVM or similar architectures, with an understanding of separation of concerns.
- Practical experience reviewing code and providing constructive feedback focused on maintainability and quality.
- Knowledge of unit testing, UI testing, and testing strategies to ensure reliability in a continuous delivery environment.
- Practical knowledge developing Web APIs and collaborating with backend engineers, including API contract design.
- Hands-on experience leveraging AI development tools to assist in engineering tasks such as architecture design, implementation, refactoring, testing, and troubleshooting, while prompting models effectively, evaluating output for security/quality, and maintaining data privacy.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Development experience with iOS or web applications to collaborate effectively across platforms.
- Knowledge of GraphQL and integrating GraphQL-based APIs into mobile applications.
- Knowledge of Material Design and experience applying design systems for consistent user interfaces.
- Knowledge of design tools such as Figma to collaborate smoothly with designers.
- Practical experience in team development using Scrum or other Agile methodologies.
- Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.
