Overview
We are seeking an SRE Team Lead to strengthen our Site Reliability Engineering capabilities and support the continuous scaling of our services.
As our systems grow in complexity and business impact, we need a leader who can drive both operational excellence and infrastructure modernization.
This role will play a key part in aligning SRE initiatives with departmental and company-wide goals, ensuring reliability, security, and cost efficiency across our platforms.
You will help shape the direction of the SRE team and build a foundation for sustainable growth.
Responsibilities and Duties
As the SRE Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and developing the SRE team, including setting team goals in collaboration with the department manager and managing day-to-day tasks and priorities.
You will conduct regular 1:1s with team members, provide coaching, and ensure the team is working effectively towards agreed objectives. The role involves close cross-functional engagement with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to coordinate reliability improvements and technical initiatives.
From a technical standpoint, you will oversee system observability and monitoring, ensuring clear visibility into system health and performance. You will lead efforts in infrastructure cost optimization, technical migration and modernization, and security hardening of software delivery processes. You will also direct infrastructure provisioning and deployment activities, promoting automation, robustness, and adherence to best practices.
Job Satisfaction and Experience Gained
In this role, you will gain extensive experience leading an SRE organization that directly impacts business continuity and customer satisfaction.
You will have the opportunity to design and improve large-scale observability, deployment, and reliability processes while balancing cost, performance, and security.
Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will develop strong leadership and communication skills, as well as deepen your expertise in modern infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE practices.
This position offers the chance to influence strategic technical decisions and see your initiatives reflected in measurable improvements to system reliability and efficiency.
Expected Role
The SRE Team Lead is expected to act as both a people leader and a technical leader for the SRE team.
You will translate business and departmental objectives into clear technical goals and execution plans, allocating tasks and resources effectively. In addition, you are expected to be a key partner to the department manager, providing insights on reliability, risk, and operational readiness, and helping to prioritize initiatives.
Your role includes ensuring that the team operates with a strong focus on outcomes, quality, and continuous improvement.
Expected Mindset
We expect you to have a proactive, ownership-driven mindset, taking responsibility for the reliability and efficiency of our systems rather than reacting only when issues arise.
You should value collaboration, actively engaging with other teams and stakeholders to align priorities and share knowledge.
A data-driven and improvement-oriented attitude is important, using metrics and observability to guide decisions and constantly looking for ways to optimize and modernize our infrastructure.
You should also be committed to mentoring and supporting team members, fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and learning.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership, including setting goals, providing direction, and developing members through regular 1:1s and feedback.
- Strong task and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and prioritize effectively in collaboration with the department manager.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to align technical work with business priorities.
- Proven ability to lead a team towards shared priorities and outcomes, ensuring accountability and clear communication.
- Experience in conducting member 1:1s, performance discussions, and career development support.
- Experience in cross-functional engagement and building effective relationships across teams.
■Technical
- Hands-on experience with system observability and monitoring, including designing metrics, logs, and traces to understand system behavior and performance.
- Experience in infrastructure cost optimization, such as right-sizing resources, leveraging appropriate services, and introducing cost transparency.
- Experience in technical migration and modernization efforts (e.g., moving to cloud-native architectures, refactoring legacy systems, or adopting modern deployment practices).
- Experience with security hardening of software delivery, including secure pipelines, access control, and compliance with security best practices.
- Practical experience with infrastructure provisioning and deployment (e.g., using infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment pipelines).

- Experience partnering closely with department or engineering managers on strategic goal-setting and roadmap planning.
- Proven experience directing teams to navigate changing priorities and complex stakeholder requirements.
- Experience conducting regular member 1:1s and driving team engagement, retention, and performance improvement.
- Experience in cross-functional initiatives involving multiple engineering and business teams.
