This position is responsible for managing and analyzing port-related and vessel operation costs for Ocean Network Express (ONE)’s container shipping business.
Operating a vessel incurs various costs, including port service fees, operational expenses, fuel-related costs, and waste disposal charges. In this role, you will analyze these cost data to ensure the accuracy of invoices and payment processes, while promoting transparency and efficiency in cost management.
Working closely with overseas offices and operational teams, you will identify issues based on data and drive improvements in cost management.
Key Responsibilities
Port and Vessel Operation Cost Management
1. Invoice and Payment Process Review, Correction, and Optimization
●Review invoices for port and vessel operation-related costs to ensure amounts are accurate and free of duplicates
●Use data analysis tools to identify potential incorrect or duplicate payments
●Collaborate with overseas offices to verify issues and implement corrections or refunds
●Examine cost allocations under charter party agreements; based on collected evidence, coordinate with local and international teams to complete cost recovery from vessel owners
●Verify that costs related to container restow operations and other services are accurately invoiced
●Work with local offices to organize port cost data and improve data accuracy
2.Governance and Contract Management
●Review contract renewal and new contract applications from local offices according to the approval matrix, and support head office approval
●Compare costs with industry benchmarks and historical data to ensure reasonablenes
●Maintain and improve rules and processes for cost management
Fuel Sludge (Residual Waste) Management
1. Fuel Sludge Handling and Cost Management
●Collect data on fuel sludge (residual waste) processing costs in collaboration with local offices and regional vessel operators
●Organize, compare, and visualize processing costs by country and port
●Ensure that waste disposal is carried out as planned
●Reconcile payment data with actual disposal activities
2.Data Analysis and Improvement Proposals
●Analyze collected data to understand trends in fuel sludge generation per vessel and evaluate the performance of waste handling contractors
●Propose and implement more efficient and cost-effective waste disposal methods based on analysis results
●Manage and analyze data throughout the fuel supply chain, from ordering to usage and disposal
●Provide general support for other fuel-related operational activities

| Required Experience and Skills | Required ●Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills Ability to identify inconsistencies or unusual patterns in large datasets and investigate the root causes. ●Business-Level English Ability to communicate with overseas offices and external partners via email and online meetings. ●Communication Skills Ability to explain data discrepancies clearly to international stakeholders and request confirmation or corrections. ●PC Skills Experience using Excel for data analysis and reporting (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables). Preferred ●Data Analysis and Process Improvement Experience Experience identifying issues through data analysis and supporting operational improvements. ●Shipping Industry Experience Experience in vessel operations, port operations, or fuel management. ●Experience in Logistics Cost Management, Procurement, or Audit |
