Q1: What kind of work have you been involved in up to now?
Before joining RENOVA, I worked for an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) company, where I was in charge of EPC work on coal-fired power plants and onshore and offshore wind power plant projects. I had experience of project scheduling, budgeting and construction management, but I had no experience in business development.
After joining RENOVA, I began to work in business development for renewable energy. Initially, RRK (Renova Korea) focused mainly on the development of offshore wind power projects, but recently we have also been working on developing onshore wind power and solar power projects. Additionally, I have been managing the RRK organization as the country head of Korea since April 2023.
Q2: Why did you choose Renova?
I joined RENOVA in May 2020. I resigned in October 2021 and re-joined in January 2022. At the time of my first joining, I did not know much about the company, but looking at RENOVA's financial statements, I felt that it was a company with a strong financial position.
I believed that even a small team (when I first joined the company, there were two people in the RRK department, including myself, and three people in the Tokyo GB [Global Business] department) could achieve great results. After working at another foreign-affiliated (European) company for a short period of time (3 months), I was able to clearly recognize the good things about Renova and decided to return.
Q3: What are the characteristics of RENOVA? (Good points, things you are proud of, things you are satisfied with, etc.)
Here are the strengths of Renova, as I see them:
The first is the agile management of the organization. It is possible to communicate freely with the management team and directly hear their opinions. Secondly, the teamwork is excellent. Everyone works hard to ensure project success.
Thirdly, the company is flexible, making it easier to develop new projects. This flexibility is because RENOVA is not obsessed with being the largest shareholder. Fourth, quick decision-making is possible. I don't think there are many approval procedures. Fifth, the company continues to develop in all aspects without stopping.
