Q1: What kind of work have you been involved in up to now?
Since joining RENOVA about a year ago, I have been responsible for the asset management of four out of the 13 mega-solar power plants developed by the company.
While asset management of solar power plants might be difficult to visualize, specific tasks include managing cash flow for each plant, coordinating with lenders, and handling insurance matters. Through these responsibilities, the mission of an asset manager is to maximize the value of each power plant.
Additionally, all of RENOVA's projects are financed through project financing. As a manager of each project, I have opportunities to make decisions involving significant sums of money, which I believe has naturally helped me develop strong decision-making skills.
Although solar power plants are often perceived as stable and unchanging businesses, the reality is that shifts in social conditions and the environment surrounding renewable energy require responses to unprecedented situations. In such circumstances, I find it fulfilling to identify what we can do, make optimal decisions, and follow through with appropriate actions.
Q2: Why did you choose Renova?
Because it is truly a one-of-a-kind company.
When I began searching for a new job, I learned about the renewable energy industry and was inspired by its mission to address global environmental and societal issues. I felt that this mission would strongly motivate me in my work, so I focused exclusively on applying to companies in this industry. Upon reading RENOVA’s website and learning about its business activities, I sensed their unwavering passion for renewable energy.
Unlike other companies, RENOVA not only specializes in renewable energy development across multiple sources such as solar, wind, biomass, and storage batteries, but also operates the projects themselves in-house. Each project’s scale is also significant, ensuring a strong impact on society and the environment no matter which project I’m involved in. Inspired by this strong sense of purpose, I decided to join RENOVA to be a part of its mission.
After joining, I found myself surrounded by motivated individuals with expertise in various fields, all driven by a common goal to resolve environmental challenges. The teamwork and dedication toward solving problems have reassured me that this was the right place for me.
Q3: What are the characteristics of RENOVA? (Good points, things you are proud of, things you are satisfied with, etc.)
While the nature of RENOVA’s projects is certainly unique, I believe what truly sets the company apart is its people.
Perhaps because of the shared mission of tackling environmental issues, my colleagues demonstrate mutual respect and maintain positive communication, which significantly boosts my own motivation. This has become one of the primary reasons I feel grateful to be a part of this company.
In every meeting, each member approaches discussions with a strong sense of ownership, and every opinion is taken seriously, allowing me to freely and confidently raise any concerns I have. Since this industry was new to me, there was much to learn, from the job’s technical aspects to specialized terminology. During my first few months, I often found myself at a loss. However, I actively engaged and asked questions, and the enthusiasm I showed was met with supportive responses from my colleagues.
Recently, RENOVA has also started internal training programs to deepen employees' understanding of its business. By taking advantage of these opportunities, I feel my understanding of day-to-day tasks has greatly improved.
This kind of supportive work environment was something I had envisioned as an ideal, but rarely encountered in practice. Joining RENOVA has made me realize how fortunate I am to work in an environment that aligns so closely with my aspirations.
