Q1: What kind of work have you been involved in up to now?
Upon joining RENOVA, my initial mission was to establish the accounting department responsible for managing SPCs (Special Purpose Companies) for power plants. While designing the framework for this new organization, I simultaneously worked on building the management and accounting processes for a biomass power plant that was under construction at the time.
After the plant successfully began operations, I focused on recruitment and team building, and was fortunate to gather a group of reliable colleagues. At the same time, organizational changes such as the integration with the large-scale solar management division helped me develop greater flexibility.
In my third year, I transferred to the Corporate Planning Office, where I currently serve as the General Manager. My responsibilities include company-wide budget planning and management, performance forecasting, and enterprise risk management. I see my mission as building systems that support RENOVA’s growth, and I’m actively involved in improving operational efficiency across the group and implementing new systems.
Q2: Why did you choose Renova?
In my previous role in the plant engineering industry, I spent about ten years working mainly on overseas petrochemical plant construction projects. Although I started in accounting, I was later assigned to construction projects and gained valuable experience in cost control and related operations.
As I approached the ten-year mark, I felt the urge to take on new challenges in a different field. With a growing interest in Japan’s energy security, I was strongly drawn to the renewable energy sector.
While considering several companies, RENOVA stood out for its flexibility and bold approach, characteristic of an independent firm. What ultimately convinced me was an interview video featuring CEO Kimura. His sincere commitment to promoting renewable energy came through clearly, and I felt his words were grounded and trustworthy.
The only concern I had was the company’s official photos at the time, which showed employees mostly in suits. Coming from a workplace where suits were rarely worn, I wondered if I would fit in. In the end, I’ve only worn a suit a handful of times since joining. The Mackintosh Philosophy suit I eagerly bought at an outlet before joining still waits patiently in the back of my closet.
Q3: What are the characteristics of RENOVA? (Good points, things you are proud of, things you are satisfied with, etc.)
RENOVA fosters a culture that values setting ideal goals first and working backward to achieve them, rather than settling for compromises. There is a strong spirit of challenge across all departments—whether in business development, technology, or corporate functions—and a shared drive to seek innovative solutions beyond precedent.
Recently, departments have begun holding study sessions and pilot programs to explore the use of generative AI. While each employee acts independently, there is a deep, company-wide alignment with RENOVA’s mission and vision, which creates a strong sense of unity.
It’s a rare kind of organization—where individuals move freely, yet all aim for the same destination.
