Senior Product Manager(English) | THECOO株式会社

Overview

This is a position to lead the product strategy and growth of THECOO's flagship products, "Fanicon".

Fanicon is a fan community platform where fans join paid communities and interact directly with Icons (creators, talents, artists, and others).

All products support ongoing relationship-building between fans and Icons through communities, chat, timelines, live streaming, digital content, e-commerce, events, and more.

In this role, based on input from users, Icons, and business/sales teams, you will clarify the problems the product should solve and their priority, and drive product growth together with designers and engineers.

Mission

Your mission is to define the product strategy and roadmap for Fanicon, connecting business, user, and development perspectives to continuously deliver results.

Rather than simply developing whatever stakeholders request, you will uncover the underlying problems and desired outcomes behind those requests, and prioritize based on user value, business impact, and development cost.

It's also an important part of the role to clearly communicate the background and rationale behind decisions to stakeholders, and to create a state where the product team can move toward a shared goal.

Responsibilities

  • Defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Fanicon / +KIRARI
  • Discovering problems through interviews with users, Icons, and internal stakeholders
  • Formulating and prioritizing hypotheses based on quantitative and qualitative data
  • Managing the product backlog and deciding development priorities
  • Writing documentation such as PRDs, user stories, and specifications
  • Driving product discovery and development in collaboration with designers and engineers
  • Building consensus with related departments such as business, sales, and customer support
  • Designing KPIs, validating impact after release, and driving continuous improvement
  • Making product decisions and sharing their background and direction internally

Requirements

  • Experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for digital products, including web services or mobile apps (roughly 7+ years, or equivalent experience)
  • Experience formulating a product vision and strategy and translating it into a roadmap
  • Experience forming hypotheses based on an understanding of users and the market, and making decisions using quantitative and qualitative data
  • Experience managing a product backlog, defining requirements, and writing PRDs or user stories
  • Experience working with designers and engineers to drive work from planning through release and improvement
  • Ability to connect business goals with product initiatives and explain outcomes
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and build consensus on priorities and decisions
  • Ability to organize ambiguous requests or problems into concrete requirements or direction in documentation
  • Ability to negotiate and build consensus smoothly with internal and external stakeholders in Japanese
  • Ability to communicate with an English-speaking development team about requirements, priorities, and decisions

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing products across multiple product lines
  • Experience with client negotiation and requirements definition in B2B services or contracted development
  • Experience with consumer-facing or subscription services
  • Experience improving products through A/B testing or experiment design
  • Experience supporting product decisions through data analysis
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior product managers
  • Experience building product management processes or organizational culture
  • Interest in entertainment, fan communities, or the creator economy

Tech Stack

  • Backend: Node.js / TypeScript / NestJS
  • Mobile: Kotlin / Swift
  • Data stores: PostgreSQL / MySQL / Redis
  • Data analytics: BigQuery
  • Infrastructure: GCP / AWS
  • Collaboration: GitHub / Linear / Slack / Notion
  • Development style: Agile development

Why This Role

  • Be involved in the strategy and growth of multiple products, Fanicon and +KIRARI
  • Lead end-to-end, from product strategy through requirements, development, and impact validation
  • Build the product while connecting diverse perspectives — users, Icons, business, sales, and development
  • Work on both creating new value and improving the existing experience for a product in continuous operation
  • Be involved in improving how product management is done and how decisions are made
  • Contribute to the growth of the team and product organization as a senior member

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of both user value and business outcomes, and who can think through the product's direction themselves.

Someone who doesn't simply accept every stakeholder request, but understands the underlying problem and can clearly explain priorities and the reasoning behind decisions. We also welcome someone who, faced with a difficult request, doesn't just say "we can't do that," but can propose realistic options to achieve the underlying goal.

We expect you to influence stakeholders through data, documentation, and dialogue — rather than relying on title or authority — and to create a state where designers and engineers can build toward a shared goal.

THECOO's Values

At THECOO, we hold shared values (our "DNA") across the whole company: "Keep challenging what seems impossible" and "Freedom and Responsibility."

We want to work with people who, even when facing complex stakeholder or product challenges, think about how to make things happen rather than why they can't, and who can take on challenges while taking responsibility for their own judgment.
