JOB SUMMARY
We are currently in search of a seasoned and dynamic International Human Resources Manager, responsible for overseeing all international HR functions at Universal Studios Japan. This role involves the effective implementation of HR strategies and policies related to international employment. The ideal candidate should possess strong strategic leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of international HR practices.
This individual will lead the International HR team at USJ, collaborating closely with other HR and business leaders both in Japan and internationally to ensure alignment with our Vision, Mission, Values, and Spirit. The role also includes proactively working with HR leaders to shape strategies, drive change, enhance processes, identify and mentor key talent, and redefine approaches to integrate diverse cultures to ensure high-performing, engaged, and inclusive teams.
Additionally, the International HR Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting change management efforts, including impact analysis, identifying key stakeholders, planning communications, providing executive coaching, and offering thought partnership. Furthermore, they will lead and utilize HR processes to influence key initiatives like performance management, succession planning, training and development, and organizational effectiveness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
●Global HR: Develop, implement, and continuously refine the international HR program that aligns with the organization's objectives and fosters a consistent, engaged and high-performing expatriate workforce.
●Talent Acquisition: Collaborate with the international talent acquisition team, including international recruitment, selection, and onboarding to attract and retain top talent. Collaborate with local HR teams to ensure effective and compliant recruitment practices.
●Compensation and Benefits: Ensure that the international compensation and benefits program complies with Japan regulations and industry standards, while ensuring equitable pay practices.
●Compliance: Stay current with international labor laws and regulations, ensuring the organization's HR practices are in compliance. Advise and guide local HR teams on relevant laws and regulations.
●Employee Relations: Act as a point of contact for international employee relations issues, mediating conflicts and providing guidance to local HR teams.
●Performance Management: Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and career development plans for international employees.
●Cross-Cultural Training: Manage cross-cultural training programs for employees and leadership to enhance global teamwork and cooperation.
●Global Mobility: Manage international assignments, relocations, repatriations and expatriate services, ensuring a smooth transition for international employees working in Japan.
REQUIREMENTS
●Bachelor's degree
●7+ years of progressive experience in HR, with at least 2 years in international HR or similar roles.
●In-depth knowledge of domestic and international labor laws, regulations, and compliance.
●Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading cross-cultural teams.
●Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Japanese.
●Cultural sensitivity and a proven ability to work with internationally diverse teams.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
