Who is Wayfarer?
Wayfarer is a fast-growing hospitality technology company in Japan, combining real-world hotel operations with software, data, and AI to build the next generation of hospitality.
Founded in Kyoto in 2019, we operate a growing portfolio of hotels across major cities in Japan under our Wayfarer, Kabin, and ORI brands. As we continue to expand our presence in Japan, we are building a hospitality platform designed to scale far beyond traditional hotel operations.
In 2026, Wayfarer completed its Series A funding round, led by the Canon Marketing Japan MIRAI Fund. This marks the beginning of our next stage of growth as we accelerate the expansion of our hospitality business, grow our team, and bring our proprietary hotel operations AI platform, Materia Connect , to the wider hospitality industry.
What makes Wayfarer different is that we don't build technology from the sidelines. We operate hotels ourselves.
Our hotel and technology teams work closely together to identify real operational challenges, build solutions, test them in live properties, and continuously improve them. Through Materia Connect, we connect hotel systems, data, workflows, automation, and AI to make hotel operations simpler, more efficient, and more scalable—while creating a better experience for travelers.
Our vision is to brighten life for the next generation of everyday travelers . We believe travel should be more than simply having a place to stay. We want to help travelers connect with local communities, discover authentic experiences, and explore more of the real world.
Wayfarer is also a highly international company. Our team represents nearly 40 nationalities, and English is our primary working language. People across hospitality, operations, real estate, product, engineering, finance, and other disciplines work together in a fast-moving and collaborative environment.
We are not a traditional hospitality company—and we don't want to become one. We question existing blueprints, move quickly, take ownership, and continuously raise the standard.
As Wayfarer enters its next phase of growth in Japan and beyond, we are looking for people who want to build, challenge, and grow with us.
Join us as we reimagine how hospitality is operated and experienced.
Wayfarer
About TXP
TXP designs, shapes, and protects the guest experience across the company hotels. We define what the experience should be, then work hand in hand with every other departments in the company to bring it to life. The team is small and moves fast. You will get real responsibility early, with direction from your manager and support from the whole team.
Who you are
You are a creative thinker and a meticulous doer who thrives when no two days are the same. You plan carefully and execute with follow-through: when you take on a task, you carry it from first idea to finished result without needing reminders. You are solution oriented: when you hit a problem, you look for a way forward and bring options, not just the problem. You will be trained and supported along the way, but once something is yours, you keep it moving. You are highly communicative, sharing updates before anyone has to ask, and you collaborate naturally with every department.
You care about crafting experiences that connect travelers to local culture, and you are comfortable managing logistics, budgets, and timelines without losing sight of the details. Above all, you care about people: what moves them, inspires them, and keeps them coming back.
What you will do
- See your work through from beginning to end. You will start with guidance from your manager, shape it into a clear plan, coordinate the people involved, and close it out properly. Done means followed through: you check that what is marked as done actually works in practice.
- Run content operations. Keep guest-facing content accurate and high quality across our CMS, OTA listings, house rules, and in-hotel materials, and run recurring content deliverables on a reliable cadence.
- Support events and guest activities. Help bring cultural events and seasonal activations to life alongside the rest of the team, from scheduling and vendor coordination to on-site execution, making sure every detail meets our standards.
- Support our partnerships. Work on partner-related tasks: coordination, scheduling, materials, and keeping partner information accurate and up to date.
- Support new hotel openings. Help polish the guest experience in new properties around opening: room and space setup from the guest's point of view, content and opening checklists.
- Improve the guest journey. Spot friction points in the current experience, propose fixes with clear reasoning, and help run the improvement projects. Stay responsive to guest feedback and trends, and bring fresh ideas.
- Keep quality and consistency high. Track progress and timelines across your tasks, conduct quality checks on materials and in-location setups, and document workflows clearly so the work survives without you.
What we are looking for
- This is a junior role: years of experience are not strictly needed, as we will train you. What we do need is proof of how you work:
- A solution-oriented mindset: when something blocks you, you propose a way forward instead of waiting to be unblocked.
- Strong personal organization: you keep checklists and timelines, and nothing falls through the cracks.
- Clear, proactive communication and comfort working with many different teams and shifting priorities.
- Fluent written and spoken English (our internal working language) and confident Japanese for vendor and partner calls (roughly JLPT N2 or above).
- Living in Kyoto or being ok with relocating there (since the TXP HQ is in Kyoto).
- Able to work some evenings and weekends around event schedules.
Nice to have
- Experience in hospitality, events, creative production, or project coordination
- Familiarity with CMS tools, OTA platforms, or content workflows
- An eye for brand and design quality
- Comfort using AI tools in daily work; our team uses them heavily
