About the Role:

WeWork is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer with a strong passion for incredible tech-driven growth. This position reports to the Engineering lead and will be part of our growing Technology team.  The successful candidate will be diligent with a proven track record in Full-Stack Software/Backend Development. The self-driven and self-motivated candidate will be responsible for collaborating with our other Engineering teams from Japan and Global/Product/Design teams, to not only develop but also help define and improve the products , addressing the specific needs of our increasing Japanese market.

Responsibilities:

• Mastermind and implement scalable RESTful APIs and robust backend services, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Design and optimize relational databases (MySQL) for efficiency and maintainability.
• Develop backend components with meticulous attention to Laravel's best practices and design patterns.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services seamlessly into our architecture.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing applications with a focus on backend logic.
• Provide technical guidance to product managers, marketers, and other engineers.
• Champion code quality through documentation, code reviews, and testing.

Qualifications:

--Must--

• 5+ years of full-stack experience with a proven emphasis on backend development.
• In-depth Laravel and PHP expertise, including a strong grasp of OOP principles.
• Solid understanding of database design, optimization, and complex SQL queries.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Git proficiency and a commitment to clean, well-structured code.
• Experience with testing frameworks (PHPUnit, etc.)
• Excellent English communication skills.

--Plus--

• CI/CD experience (e.g., CircleCI).
• Experience with Laravel Nova.
• Working knowledge of AWS (EC2, API Gateway, Lambda, etc.).
• JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS, and familiarity with a modern frontend framework.
• Fluency in Japanese
• Proficient use of AI tools to leverage the coding quality and productivity.
