Job Description
You will be responsible for Japanese-to-English translation related to online games that SEGA operates globally, as well as projects currently in development.
This role involves accurately understanding information in Japanese and adapting it into natural English for players and development and operations teams. We welcome applicants who enjoy games, like reading and writing, and want to use Japanese in a role within the game industry.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Japanese-to-English translation for online games and projects currently in development
• Translation of announcements, specifications, and other internal and external materials related to game operations and planning
• Checking the expression, terminology, and tone of translated content
• Ensuring consistent translations in accordance with glossaries and established rules
• Confirming details, consulting with team members, and responding to reviews within the team
The team will provide support after you join regarding translation workflows and the tools used for the role. Regardless of whether you have professional experience, the selection process will emphasize language ability, writing ability, and suitability for the position.
Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school (students are not eligible)
• Must be able to work full-time shifts at the Sapporo head office (10:00–19:00 / 8 working hours with a 1-hour break)
• Must be able to work on a long-term basis for at least one year
• Native English speaker
• Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 or above
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to approach work with a strong sense of responsibility
• Basic professional etiquette and communication skills
