【Mission】

Lead the realization of data-driven management centered on renewable energy by integrating and visualizing all of Looop’s data, and establishing a data ecosystem around the “One Data Platform.”

【Position Overview】

The Chief Data Officer (CDO) serves as the executive responsible for Looop’s company-wide data strategy. As a member of the executive team, the CDO positions data at the core of corporate value creation.

The CDO oversees all aspects of data governance, quality, security, and utilization (including analytics, data science, and AI), driving data-driven management and digital transformation (DX). The role also collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to build a data ecosystem centered around the One Data Platform.

【Key Responsibilities】

  1. Data & AI Strategy and Vision
    ・Develop company-wide data strategy and roadmap aligned with corporate strategy.
    ・Design new business value creation models through enterprise-wide data utilization.
    ・Advise executive management on data strategy and support decision-making.
    ・Promote business growth and revenue models leveraging data (e.g., data-driven businesses, AI applications).
  2. Data & AI Governance and Compliance
    ・Establish and oversee a company-wide data governance framework and data management operations.
    ・Define and enforce data ownership, quality standards, and usage policies.
    ・Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, Personal Information Protection Act, etc.).
    ・Foster a corporate culture of data ethics, privacy, and security.
    ・Promote company-wide data & AI literacy and formulate responsible AI usage policies.
    ・Monitor and continuously improve data/AI governance maturity and quality indicators.
  3. Data Platform (One Data Platform) Leadership
    ・Drive the One Data Platform initiative to integrate company-wide data.
    ・Design and oversee data architecture, pipeline, and metadata management policies.
    ・Ensure reliability, availability, security, and cost-efficiency of the data platform.
    ・Optimize operations and development processes using DataOps, MLOps, and AIOps.
    ・Facilitate cross-departmental data integration, real-time data distribution, and AI/BI tool adoption.
    ・Promote future expansion including AI assistants, self-service analytics, and LLM applications.
  4. Organization & Talent Management
    ・Lead the Data Management Office (DMO) and the following specialized teams:
     -Data Governance Team
     -Data Quality Management Team
     -Data Analytics & Utilization Team
     -Education & Support Team
    ・Drive internal data talent development (Data Literacy, Data Stewardship).
    ・Collaborate with external partners/vendors and lead the Data Governance Committee.
  5. Data Utilization & Business Transformation Support
    ・Work with business units to design and implement data-driven decision-making processes.
    ・Support data visualization, AI/ML adoption, and generative AI deployment to enhance operations.
    ・Establish KPIs and management monitoring mechanisms based on data.

・Related Departments: Product Management (PdM), System Management, UX/UI, PMO, Information Security, etc.

【Required Experience】

●Mandatory

・【Strategy】Experience in developing and executing data strategy aligned with corporate strategy.
・【Technical Expertise 1】Advanced expertise and hands-on experience in building and operating data platforms (DWH, data lake, cloud environments, ETL).
・【Technical Expertise 2】Practical experience in AI, BI, and data analytics technologies with demonstrated business impact.
・【Governance】Deep knowledge and practical experience in data governance, AI governance, security, and privacy management.
・【Leadership】Proven ability to lead cross-organizational projects.
・【Communication】Excellent communication skills with executives, business units, and technical teams.
・Business-level English communication skills.

●Preferred

・Experience as CDO or Head of Data in global or technology companies.
・Experience in generative AI, LLMs, or data mining research/application.
・Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
・Experience reporting to executives in English and collaborating with international partners.
・Experience utilizing data in renewable energy or social infrastructure domains.
・Japanese conversational skills.

Base Salary: ¥449,000 – ¥753,000
