Business Development (Senior Associate level)
Position Overview Renova is seeking a highly motivated Business Development professional to join its Philippines Office. You will play a key role in the sourcing, origination, and development of renewable energy projects across the country. This position is ideal for individuals with over 5 years of experience in the power and energy industry, who are passionate about sustainability and eager to contribute to impactful, long-term energy solutions. Key Responsibilities Origination : Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and projects within the Philippines. Analysis : Conduct comprehensive market research, policy/regulatory analysis and project feasibility studies. Project Support : Lead or support project structuring, feasibility assessment, planning, permitting, financial modelling, and documentation processes. Stakeholder Management : Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, landowners, local communities, and potential partners. Coordination and Negotiation : Coordinate and/or negotiate with contractors, landowners, partners, and advisors. Reporting : Prepare high-quality proposals, presentations, and internal reports for management. Administration : Manage project-related documentation, meeting coordination, and project monitoring. Capability/ Experience Required (Must) Minimum of 5 years of experience in project development within the energy sector (experience in Renewable Energy is preferred). Graduate of electrical, mechanical, or related engineering degree. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Tagalog. Proactive, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Legal Member (the Philippines)
Department Description The Legal Department (Project Legal Group),based in Tokyo, is an organization that resolves legal issues in projects through drafting and reviewing contracts related to the development, financing, construction, and operation of domestic and international power plants using renewable energy resources, as well as joint development agreements with business partners. As part of the project team, members devise higher-value contract terms and drive company growth through proper risk-taking and risk management as a legal organization (Legal Project Manager).The person hired for this position will be based in our Manila office and responsible for projects/corporate matters in the Philippines. Job Description Achieve the mission by executing the following tasks at the front line together with project members from development, finance, engineering, and other departments: ①Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts for development projects of power plants, energy storage facilities, etc. using renewable energy resources (including shareholders' agreements, land use agreements, EPC contracts, O&M contracts, and other project finance-related contracts) ②Analyzing business plans and resolving legal issues and business issues from a legal perspective ③Planning and executing dispute and trouble resolution ④Reviewing other contracts and handling corporate legal matters including group companies ⑤Executing management reporting and decision-making as a primary member *All activities leverage legal background and business development expertise, rather than simple internal coordination or following precedent, and directly contribute to business performance and company goal achievement. Path to Independence (6 months to 1 year) As a standard process, under the guidance of department managers and senior members based in Tokyo and Manila, you will be assigned as a project legal member within a maximum of six months after joining through: ①building relationships with internal members, ②attending and participating in regular issue-sharing and resolution meetings, and ③handling partial project contracts. During the guidance period, you will receive input on ongoing project issues, contracts under negotiation, and actual problem-solving processes and methods. Additionally, while conducting OJT, irregular study sessions may be planned to improve overall capabilities. (The program will be designed based on your experience.)
